The Vampire Bookby J. Gordon Melton First published in 1994, then in an expanded and amended edition in 1999, The Vampire Book is a massive alphabetical compendium of vampire folklore, fiction, film, and fandom. Most information is referenced, so readers can check the original sources (a wise idea as even the second edition is plagued with occasional errors and typos). Each article is fairly extensive and the volume is well-illustrated. This is an excellent, if not perfect, reference work for the library of anyone interested in things vampiric.
